ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
This dual-degree programme at BUV combines mathematics, statistics, programming and software development with practical study in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, data engineering and MLOps. Through applied projects, students learn to develop, evaluate and deploy reliable AI solutions while considering ethics, governance, privacy and social impact across different industries and local contexts.
YOUR LEARNING PATH
This module will equip students with a greater ability to communicate through writing, and speaking, as well as enhance their receptive skills with reading and listening. Overall, students will learn key foundational skills in academic English and develop a greater ability to use English in both formal and informal settings. The aim of this course is to build a strong foundation for students to extend towards more specialist, academic forms of English usage and comprehension.
This is a foundation module intended to provide students with an introduction to a wide range of necessary study and personal skills, including ideation and creativity, effective study, stress and health management, teamwork and collaboration, personal branding, and career development.
Programming fundamentals is an introductory course designed to equip you with a foundational understanding of programming principles and the ability to break problems down using computational thinking. This course aims to develop your critical thinking and analytical skills, preparing you for advanced study and a promising future in Technology
IT Essentials provides fundamental IT knowledge and practical skills in hardware, operating systems, networking, and cybersecurity, enabling learners to effectively support business operations and modern technology environments.
DISTINCTIVE EXPERIENCE
AI and data professionals are increasingly needed across finance, healthcare, manufacturing, e-commerce, technology and government. The programme prepares students to pursue high-value opportunities in Vietnam and international markets by developing the technical judgement, problem-solving ability and adaptability required to work with intelligent systems and data-driven decision-making.
This programme brings together the complete journey of applied AI: understanding the principles, developing intelligent solutions, deploying them in practical environments and ensuring they remain reliable, responsible and useful over time. Students are prepared not simply to experiment with AI, but to help create systems that organisations can trust and apply at scale.
The programme is designed around the capabilities increasingly expected in modern AI work, combining analytical thinking, technical development, responsible decision-making and practical delivery. Through progressive project experience and career preparation, students build the confidence to pursue valuable roles in AI, data science, machine learning and intelligent technology - while continuing to grow as the field evolves.
Students develop experience through collaborative work, practical challenges and substantial individual projects. They learn to move from an initial idea to a working, evaluated and responsibly developed solution, gaining the confidence to communicate with others, solve problems systematically and contribute effectively in professional technology environments.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Apply rigorous mathematical, statistical and computing foundations to design, build and evaluate reliable AI and data solutions for real-world challenges.
Apply practical skills across the AI lifecycle - from data preparation and model development to software engineering, deployment, monitoring and MLOps - to develop production-oriented intelligent systems.
Translate complex challenges into tested technical solutions through collaborative projects, practical development and independent project work, while communicating results clearly to relevant audiences.
Design and deploy trustworthy AI with attention to ethics, governance, privacy, societal impact and local contexts, including Vietnamese-language applications with wider regional potential.
CAREER PROSPECTS
The Applied AI & Data Science programme prepares students with the analytical, technical and problem-solving skills to contribute to:
-Technology companies and start-ups developing intelligent products, data-driven platforms and AI-enabled services.
-Banks, fintech organisations and financial institutions applying AI to risk, fraud detection, customer services and decision-making.
-Healthcare and life-science organisations using data and AI to improve research, diagnosis, services and operational efficiency.
-Manufacturing, logistics, retail and e-commerce organisations applying intelligent technologies to forecasting, automation and customer experiences.
-Public-sector organisations and social-impact initiatives using responsible AI to improve services, planning and policy decisions.
-Data, AI engineering and technology teams developing, deploying and managing intelligent systems.
-International organisations and innovation-led businesses addressing complex challenges through data and artificial intelligence.
Upon completion, students may pursue roles such as:
Through integrated learning in data science, artificial intelligence, software development, deployment and responsible innovation, graduates develop the foundation to transform data into intelligent solutions that are practical, scalable and trusted across a wide range of industries.
