Seamless progression to Russell Group
British University Vietnam (BUV) has recently signed a progression agreement with the University of Sheffield. Under this agreement, BUV students have the opportunity to progress to a wide range of business-focused master’s programmes at Sheffield. Eligible students can continue their graduate studies in fields such as Management, Finance, Marketing, Business, and related disciplines.
In addition, BUV students benefit from exclusive tuition fee incentives, making postgraduate study at Sheffield more attainable and rewarding.
This progression agreement forms part of the broader Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both institutions in July 2025, which outlines mutual commitments to explore areas of cooperation such as mobility opportunities for students and staff, collaborative teaching and research, and other academic initiatives that enhance quality and global reach for both universities.
As one of the UK’s leading universities and a proud member of the prestigious Russell Group, the University of Sheffield is consistently ranked among the world’s top 100 universities (QS World University Rankings 2026). Known for its strong academic reputation, impactful research, and commitment to global engagement, Sheffield offers a dynamic environment for innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic excellence.
For Sheffield, the agreement strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia, providing a steady stream of BUV graduates trained to UK standards and ready to excel in postgraduate programmes, while enriching its international learning community and fostering deeper cross-border academic engagement.
“We sought a partnership between BUV due to its commitment to innovation; a desire to constantly improve its educational opportunities; and an institution that puts students at the heart of everything it does,” shared Vaughan McKee, Senior International Partnerships Manager, University of Sheffield. “The quality of teaching and therefore graduates BUV produces has been admired by the University of Sheffield for a while, and we were excited to be able to forge connections between our two universities.”
For BUV, the agreement is part of its strategy to expand partnership with top-tier UK universities, providing students with direct, seamless pathways to world-class postgraduate programmes while enhancing their competitiveness in the global job market.
“This collaboration with the University of Sheffield, a member of Russel Group, reflects BUV’s ongoing mission to provide students with high-quality, globally recognised progression opportunities,” said Ms. Hien Nguyen, Head of International Mobility and Partnerships, BUV. “Our graduates can now seamlessly continue their academic journey abroad, gaining both advanced knowledge and international exposure that will enhance their future careers.”
Diversifying international mobility opportunities
The agreement strengthens BUV’s commitment to providing structured, predictable, and financially supported study routes overseas, enabling students to navigate their academic and professional development with clarity and confidence.
Beyond British-accredited degrees delivered in Vietnam, BUV empowers students to diversify their learning experiences through a global network of 74 prestigious universities across 18 countries on 5 continents.
Studying at BUV, students can choose from short-term study abroad or semester exchange programmes, transfer to a BUV partner university overseas in their last one or two years (2+1 or 2+2…), or continue their academic journey by pursuing a postgraduate degree from one of the top-ranked institutions in the world.
All pathways are carefully customised and academically pre-mapped exclusively for BUV students, ensuring alignment and a smooth transition. The university works closely with partners to streamline applications, offer tailored counselling, and provide partnership scholarships that help reduce financial barriers.
Through this comprehensive system of well-structured, financially supported mobility routes, BUV continues to solidify its position as a destination where students not only earn a British degree but also gain access to a world of international academic and career opportunities, ultimately enhancing their readiness to thrive in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
As part of its commitment to the lifelong success of its graduates, BUV continues to expand its network of global partnerships to secure the most advantageous progression routes and scholarship schemes. These efforts ensure a seamless and financially accessible pathway for every BUV graduate seeking further study abroad.
