Programmes & Study

BUV undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are awarded with UK partner universities and taught entirely in English. Choose a course, check how it is structured, and see how Pathway options connect to a Bachelor's degree.

Before you start, please ensure you have reviewed the Entry requirements for your specific programme. If you are applying for a scholarship, please visit Tuition Fees & Scholarships separately as additional documents are required.

This is an honours bachelor's degree, awarded when a student completes the full three-year programme under the UK system and achieves a higher academic standard than an Ordinary (Pass) degree.

An “Honours” degree is not a special award — it is the standard qualification offered by most UK universities. It makes it easier to pursue a Master's degree in the UK, Australia, the US, Europe, and elsewhere, and carries greater weight on a CV and in recruitment.

IFP is for students progressing to University of London programmes, intended for students who have completed the IGCSE curriculum.

UKPW is for students progressing to programmes from Staffordshire University, the University of Stirling, Arts University Bournemouth, Bournemouth University, and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Key differences: duration (IFP: 1 year; UKPW: 6 weeks); IFP graduates receive a completion certificate from the University of London that can be used to progress to a UoL programme or another international university; and the two programmes differ in their objectives and training focus.

Read more about Who needs to take a foundation/pathway programme at BUV? What is the difference between the IFP and UKPW programmes?

The IFP helps students build a foundation of academic knowledge and study skills to international standards, preparing them for university and broadening their global study options. For students who have completed the standard Vietnamese high school curriculum, the IFP is a mandatory requirement for progression to a bachelor's programme awarded by the University of London. In addition to foundational academic knowledge, upon completing the IFP students also gain skills in logical and critical thinking, independent research and study, and adapting to an international university learning environment.

Read more about What is the main objective of the IFP, and what skills will students gain by completing it?

In practice, there is no difference between the IFP at BUV and Foundation courses in the UK, either in duration or programme objectives. The IFP is designed to provide the foundational knowledge and essential skills students need to be ready for a specialised undergraduate programme — which is also the shared goal of Foundation programmes at universities in the UK. Students who complete the IFP can apply to bachelor's programmes at many universities worldwide.
