ABOUT THE COMPETITION

All communication is story. Whether you make a short drama, a documentary, an animation or a commercial, you are telling a story.

BUV Narrative Futures is run by the School of Communications and Creative Industries (SoCCI) at British University Vietnam. We're looking for honest, human stories and fresh perspectives, the kind only you could tell. You don't need expensive equipment: a phone and a good idea are enough.

This year's theme is Small Stories, Big Impact. Be inspired, your stories matter!

Tell a made-up story – characters, drama, comedy or anything in between. Up to 8 minutes, including credits.

▸ Documentary / Non-Fiction Film

▸ Animated Film

Students in grades 10–12 at a high school in Vietnam (with consent from parent or guardian).

1. Upload your film to YouTube or Vimeo as an Unlisted video.

2. Submit the link through the Entry Form, with your parent or guardian's details before 14 February 2027, 11:59 pm (Vietnam time).

Note: You can enter more than one category, with one entry per category.

Your film must be your (or your team's) own work – no professionals filming or editing for you. Workshops and mentor advice are fine.
Films made before are welcome, as long as they fit the theme and haven't been entered in another competition.
Films not in English need English subtitles.
Show us how you're making your film! Send short behind-the-scenes videos (up to 2 minutes) at any stage of your project by 15 January 2027.

We'll review them and post the best on the SoCCI Facebook page. The behind-the-scenes video with the most engagement can win the Best Behind-the-Scenes award.
