BECOMING A REGIONAL MANAGER JUST 2 YEARS AFTER STUDYING IN AUSTRALIA – NGUYEN DUYEN NGAN

Nguyen Duyen Ngan (Alice Nguyen), a BUV alumna of the International Business Management programme, is admired for her outstanding achievements in both academics and career.

Starting her journey at BUV as a scholarship winner in 2017, Duyen Ngan quickly stood out, earning Academic Merit Awards and graduating with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management. From this milestone, she kept the momentum going, achieving a first-class Master’s degree from the University of Sydney – one of the world’s top 18 universities (*). Now, she’s a Student Recruitment Regional Manager (International) at BIZZ Education Australia, a company specialising in study-abroad and immigration support.

At a young age, Duyen Ngen had already led projects abroad and enjoyed a strong start to her career. Reflecting on her achievements, she credits her success to a leadership mindset and unwavering determination:

Balancing passion with a clear strategy

For Duyen Ngan, passion has been a key energy source to stay motivated and achieve success in both her studies and career. Her ability to balance studies, extracurriculars, and internships always surprises friends and everyone around Ngân. “Doing well in both studies and work has never felt like a duty; to me, it’s simply what I love,” Ngân shares.

But passion alone isn’t enough. To complete all her goals, Ngân established a solid strategy for managing her time effectively.

This “recipe” of combining passion with strategy has helped Ngan achieve impressive milestones in both Australia and Vietnam. Not only did she graduate with a first-class Master’s degree in Commerce from the University of Sydney, but she also moved up to a management role within two years of studying and living in Australia.

Resilience shaped by international experience

A clear strategy has helped Ngan go far, but what truly makes her stand out are a fearless spirit and her determination to face any challenge head-on.

To start her career in Australia, Ngan applied to hundreds of companies and was willing to take on a receptionist role at a university just to find a path toward becoming a Student Recruitment Officer. Her approach for getting through this challenging time was simple: NEVER BE AFRAID. As she reminded herself, “Nothing will work unless you do. Success only comes when you take action.”

Ngan’s resilient attitude and willingness to take action stem from her experiences in various international settings, including BUV. During her studies at BUV, she was immersed in a global culture of learning and working, which strengthened her skills and mindset. Even after graduating, the “unlearn to relearn” philosophy – a core value of BUV – continues to guide her as she moves forward in her career.

A leadership mindset developed at BUV

Beyond the knowledge and skills Ngân gained at BUV, what she treasures most is the LEADERSHIP MINDSET that her lecturers helped her unlock. Feeling listened to and respected are things Ngân feels truly grateful for at BUV.

This leadership mindset has given Ngân the confidence to speak up and bring innovative ideas to any setting, which has helped her progress in her career.

Ngan’s leadership doesn’t just shine at work; she’s also an inspiration to her younger sister, Ha Van. Rather than telling her what to do, Ngân prefers to “lead by example” – showing the way through her own actions. Thanks to her guidance, Ha Van found her direction and chose BUV – the place that helped Ngân grow and thrive. Ngan advises all the talented BUVers out there:
