BUILDING A STRONGER F&B BUSINESS WITH THE BUV MBA PROGRAMME – MS. NGUYEN QUYNH NGA
As the Co-founder and owner of Banh mi Long Hoi, Ms. Nguyen Quynh Nga has been delighting Hanoi foodies with the authentic taste of Hoi An’s famous banh mi. In addition to running her business, she also lectures in tourism & hospitality management and customer service at East Asia University of Technology, Foreign Trade University, and training institutions such as Pegasus and CHM, while also mentoring startup projects at FPT University.
Banh mi Long Hoi was founded from her passion for food and the F&B industry. However, passion alone was not enough for long-term growth. The urgent need to master and apply structured business management knowledge drove her to pursue the MBA programme at BUV – an international master’s programme tailored for working professionals, seamlessly blending in-depth theory with practical application.
Building a stronger management foundation for Banh mi Long Hoi
Before joining the MBA programme at BUV, Ms. Nga openly admitted that most of her business decisions had been based on personal experience and acumen. Over 19 months of study, equipped with specialized courses and modern management tools, she transformed the way she thought and almost completely restructure her business model – from branding, financial management, and customer care to team development. These reforms have given Banh mi Long Hoi a clear, well-grounded growth strategy, allowing the brand to stand out in Hanoi’s Old Quarter – a market traditionally dominated by unbranded, family-run shop.

In particular, financial knowledge empowered her to control costs more effectively and plan with precision. Meanwhile, HR management skills completely transformed the way she built her team, starting with internal training foundations, strengthening employee engagement, and inspiring them toward the brand’s long-term goals. Under her leadership, Banh mi Long Hoi is steadily expanding with a systematic and professional approach while preserving the essence of Hoi An.
Reflecting on her journey, Ms. Nga shared:
The knowledge and experiences I gained from the programme have greatly supported me in growing the Banh mi Long Hoi brand while also providing invaluable practical insights for my university lectures.
The values behind responsible leadership
Beyond business skills, the BUV MBA also instilled in her profound values of business ethics. What impressed her most, she emphasized, was the academic environment cultivated at BUV:
What I truly treasure is how BUV fosters integrity, respect, and human connection. These values were clearer and more meaningful here than in any other programme I had previously experienced in Vietnam.
Sharing from her own journey, she encourages aspiring entrepreneurs:
Take ownership of your learning, embrace challenges, and start growing experience as early as you can. Above all, remain engaged with the BUV community – a strong network that will nurture both your professional expertise and leadership growth.
