Hands-on game education takes a step forward at BUV
The partnership adds a new dimension to BUV’s hands-on, project-based approach to Games education, giving students opportunities to apply their creative and technical skills within professional production workflows.
Students who meet VTC’s participation criteria will have opportunities to join live motion capture sessions and raw data clean-up, as well as contribute to 3D asset creation, 2D concept art, playtesting and structured quality assurance on VTC game projects. These opportunities can help students gain a broader understanding of how different creative and technical disciplines come together throughout the game development process at one of the top game producers in the country.
Additionally, VTC specialists will deliver workshops for BUV students and provide industry input into the university’s games curriculum, bringing further industry perspectives into the learning environment.
“The games industry is evolving rapidly, and stronger collaboration between industry and education can play an important role in its continued development. This partnership with VTC is an exciting opportunity to connect our Games students with the realities of professional game production. We look forward to seeing this collaboration create meaningful learning experiences for our students while strengthening the connection between education and Vietnam’s growing games industry,” said Professor Rick Bennett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President at BUV, at the signing ceremony.
Bringing BUV’s Motion Capture Room into real-world game production
A key part of the partnership is the use of BUV’s signature Motion Capture Room in selected VTC game development projects.
BUV’s Motion Capture room will be used in VTC’s game productions
Designed for game development and digital content creation, the facility is equipped with a Chroma Key (green screen) backdrop, specialised cameras, high-quality motion capture suits and virtual reality (VR) equipment. It gives students opportunities to explore motion capture, visual effects and immersive digital experiences, while becoming familiar with tools and workflows used in the industry.
The collaboration provides an opportunity for BUV’s facilities to contribute directly to professional game production. BUV’s name and logo will be included in the official credits of relevant VTC games produced using the Motion Capture Room, recognising the facility’s contribution to these projects.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao delivers remarks at the signing ceremony
“The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as the state ownership representative and governing body of VTC, is currently looking to further promote the use of games as a means of developing Vietnam’s cultural industries. The partnership with BUV brings together the respective strengths in resources and technology of both organisations, with the potential to create culturally meaningful game products with practical value for Vietnam in the future,” said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao, General Director of VTC Corporation.
The partnership marks a further step in BUV’s engagement with Vietnam’s games industry, creating a well-rounded platform for continued collaboration between academia and industry across education, expertise and game development.
