On 7 October, BUV welcomed Professor Mary Stiasny, Pro Vice-Chancellor Emerita at the University of London, back to campus for a visit centred on academic partnership, student engagement and achievement.
Professor Mary Stiasny’s visit formed part of a wider dialogue on transnational education, bringing together Professor Sir Steve Smith, UK Government International Education Champion, and BUV leadership to exchange perspectives on quality, partnership development and the future of UK–Vietnam higher education collaboration.
The visit also provided an opportunity for Professor Mary Stiasny to engage directly with students studying University of London awarded programmes at BUV, which receive academic direction from the The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and the International Foundation Programme (IFP).
A highlight of the session was the recognition of outstanding academic performance, with 16 academic awards and four McIntosh Scholarships presented to BUV students, including students whose results placed them among the highest-performing learners across the University of London’s global community.
Reflecting on the standards being set by BUV students, Professor Mary Stiasny said: “BUV students have stood among the very best of our students anywhere. That is a credit to your hard work and to the outstanding support that you receive here.”
The visit builds on a relationship that has developed over many years between BUV and the University of London. In 2025, BUV was formally recognised as an International Partner of the University of London, marking another milestone in a collaboration focused on expanding access to internationally recognised education in Vietnam. As part of the University of London Recognised Teaching Centres network, BUV continues to support students in Vietnam studying University of London programmes, combining international academic standards with dedicated teaching and student support on campus.
