What is the Dean’s Scholarship?

The Dean’s Scholarship is valued at 50% of the tuition fees for the Pathway programme and undergraduate courses offered at the British University Vietnam. A key feature of the programme is to contribute to Vietnam’s development by providing world-class higher education opportunities offered at the first British owned university in Vietnam. The awardees are selected based primarily on contribution to the community and the potential to become leaders in the business and public sector, ideally with excellent previous academic performance.

Additionally, if needed, the travelling costs for attending the scholarship interview round for students who are not in Hanoi will also be paid.

Applied Majors

The scholarship programme applies to all undergraduate programmes offered at BUV.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, all applicants must:

(a) Be a citizen of Vietnam and reside in Vietnam at the time of application;

(b) At the time of application be not more than 30 years of age;

(c) Have already completed or currently studying Grade 12 with a minimum GPA of 8.5 or equivalent by the time of completion*;

(d) Have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or other English language certificates of equivalent level. Please contact the Student Recruitment Office if you do not have an English certification;

(e) Submit all scholarship application documents before the application deadline;

(f) Not hold any other scholarships.

*Please contact the Student Recruitment Office if you do not study in a Vietnamese general education programme for high school.

Selection Criteria

The Scholarship Panel will select candidates based on an assessment of the following factors:

Academic results
Volunteer/Community work experience
Relevance to the proposed study programme
Potential contribution to the University and the Community
Leadership potential
Need for financial support

General Terms and Conditions 

Awardees are eligible for the scholarship during their undergraduate and foundation programmes at BUV. The withdrawal of a student at any time will lead to the scholarship being terminated.

British University Vietnam will not refund any fees paid for courses that have been or are being studied by scholarship winners.

This scholarship will cover the tuition fees, resources fees, student affairs fees, and practical equipment fees of the foundation and undergraduate programmes, other fees are not covered. The scholarship will be deducted from the annual tuition fee of the winners and subject to change upon the winner’s academic performance. Continuation of the award is subject to the successful completion of all assessments and a minimum annual academic result achievement.

Should the applicant withdraw from the programme before satisfactory completion, they must comply with the Refund Policy established by the British University Vietnam.

If a scholarship holder withdraws from the programme of study, the University reserves the right to obtain full reimbursement of the tuition fees and any other fees and allowances that have been incurred. These must be repaid to the University within three months of withdrawal.

Step 2 - Scholarship Application

All scholarship application documents must be submitted before the application deadline, these documents include:

1. Passport-sized photograph*
High-resolution photo (at least 1200px in dimension) of you with portrait layout, clean background, and neat clothes. Kindly note that this provided photo might be used for communication purposes on BUV’s platforms if you become a BUV Scholarship Winner.

2. Copy of ID card/Passport*

3. English-translated copy of high school graduation certificate OR provisional high school graduation certificate (if applicable) (with certified stamp)

4. English-translated copy of academic transcript for grades 10, 11 and 12 and other transcript(s) (with certified stamp) *

5. International Qualifications (if any): English-translated Certificate(s) and transcript(s) (with certified stamp or signature)

6. Evidence of extra-curricular activities during high school (English translated copy if not in English) *

7. Copy of IELTS/TOEFL/Other qualifications result with valid date *

8. Personal Statement in English *

9. Recommendation Letter(s) (English-translated copy if not in English) *

10. Evidence (English-translated copy) of disability or in need of financial support, i.e. “Giấy Chứng nhận hộ nghèo” (if relevant)

11. Copy of scholarship application fee receipt of payment (2,000,000 VND for each round of scholarship) *

Step 3 - Final Interview

Short-listed candidates will be invited to the interview round at British University Vietnam Ecopark Campus.

The University will cover transportation fees for candidates living outside of Hanoi and Hung Yen (if necessary).

The final results will be sent to candidates via email.

Studying at BUV has always been my dream since I entered high school. After thoroughly researching the university and participating in several Experience Days at BUV, I concluded that this is the ideal place for my personal development and future orientation.
