Centre for Research & Innovation (CRI)
The CRI at BUV serves as a hub to drive research and innovation, supporting BUV’s mission. We aim to support faculty in producing and promoting research and innovative activities that supports the continued prosperity of Vietnam, enhances the external reputation of BUV, and attracts national and globally leading researchers and partners to BUV. The CRI’s goals include increasing the production of high-impact research, promoting BUV’s research activities, and driving the development of research and innovation within BUV.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Officer, CRI, plays a pivotal role in supporting the strategic goals of the Centre for Research & Innovation at BUV. This position will support daily operations within the Centre, liaising with the CRI intern team, and support the development of research policy and strategic initiatives. The role provides an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about building a research hub within higher education, facilitating a dynamic environment for faculty, student researchers, and external partners.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Operational Management and Team Coordination

  • Oversee the operations of the CRI, including scheduling and managing team activities to meet the Centre’s strategic objectives.
  • Supervise CRI interns, coordinating their tasks and ensuring alignment with Centre objectives.
  • Develop and implement data tracking tools to monitor research activities and outputs across CRI and BUV.

Collaborative Partnerships and External Engagement

  • Work closely with BUV’s external partners to develop and execute collaborative workshops, training sessions, and co-funding opportunities that advance the Centre’s mission.
  • Engage with faculty, students, and partners to support research initiatives, offering guidance and ensuring clear communication of objectives and resources.
  • Maintain and expand existing partnerships while exploring new collaborations with industry and academic stakeholders to strengthen CRI’s reach and impact.
  • Develop an external communications strategy in conjunction with relevant BUV departments to effectively promote CRI’s research activities, achievements, and partnerships across a variety of platforms.

Cross-Organisational Collaboration

  • Collaborate with departments across BUV to support the CRI’s mission and enhance research impact within the university.
  • Act as a liaison between the CRI and other BUV divisions to align research activities with BUV’s broader educational goals, fostering a cohesive approach to research excellence.

Research Support, Policy Development, and Project Tracking

  • Assist in shaping and implementing research policies to promote and support innovative research practices across BUV.
  • Proactively research and identify areas for improvement in BUV’s research activities and implement changes to enhance research productivity and quality.
  • Track and support the activities of externally funded projects, offering project management assistance and supporting all reporting requirements to ensure successful project completion.

Training and Development

  • Arrange and facilitate training sessions for staff, faculty, and students on research software, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Deliver aspects of training on research activities based on expertise.
  • Collaborate with CRI leadership to assess training needs within the Centre and to develop content relevant to the CRI’s strategic objectives.

Grant Writing, Funding Support, and Project Management

  • Aid the Head of CRI and faculty in drafting grant proposals for internal and external funding opportunities.
  • Manage the processing of funding requests, including coordinating with the finance department to facilitate reimbursements.
  • Track and maintain records of grants, project budgets, and other funding activities to ensure compliance and reporting standards are met.
  • Support in existing funded or other research projects as required.

Event Coordination and Logistical Support

  • Organise research events, seminars, and conferences, overseeing all aspects from logistics to attendee engagement.
  • Arrange travel, accommodation, and related logistics for research projects and funded activities.
  • Support CRI’s research promotion activities in collaboration with the marketing team to highlight BUV’s research initiatives and outputs.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Essential

  • Good understanding of higher education environments and knowledge of research processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Research Administration, or Education).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a role related to research administration or higher education.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, organise events, and coordinate team activities effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Vietnamese.
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management or project tracking tools.
  • Strong organisational skills, with demonstrated attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience in grant writing and funding proposal support within a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of event management and research dissemination techniques.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or team management role.
