POSITION PURPOSE
The Academic Quality Officer assists the Head of Academic Quality in ensuring adherence to academic policies, procedures, and quality assurance processes across all programs. Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of academic policies, developing training materials, monitoring assessment and marking procedures, tracking faculty development initiatives, and overseeing Module Monitoring Report (MMR), Program Monitoring Report (PMR), and Assurance of Learning processes. The role also involves collaborating closely with the Registry and Course Office to coordinate academic quality efforts. The Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining academic standards, providing guidance to faculty and staff, analyzing data, and recommending improvements to enhance the overall quality of academic programs and processes.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Academic Quality Officer will play a vital role in supporting the Head of Academic Quality in ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence across all programs and initiatives.
The main responsibilities of this position include:
- QAA Accreditation Support:
Assist the Head of Academic Quality in preparing documentation, evidence, and data required for QAA accreditation processes.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to gather information and ensure timely submission of accreditation materials.
- Academic Governance Support:
Assist in the review and assessment of new program proposals.
Monitor and ensure the effective implementation of Assurance of Learning processes, tracking progress and identifying areas for improvement.
Support the design and development of training materials, workshops, and resources for the Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellowship program.
- Assessment Creation and Approval Process Management:
Oversee the assessment creation and approval process, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
Coordinate with faculty members and academic staff to facilitate the timely creation and review of assessments.
- Quality Assurance (Internal Audit) and Moderation:
Manage the internal audit process for marking and moderation, ensuring consistency and fairness across all programs.
Developing and Designing the processes and training materials for various faculty training sessions.
- Faculty Development and Quality Communication:
Maintain accurate records of faculty development outcomes, including peer pair observations.
Facilitate timely communication with faculty members regarding quality control matters, updates, and best practices.
- Assisting HAQ in ensuring assurance of learning and process optimization.
- Monitoring and Recording Teaching Observation Process and Academic Monitoring reports
- Managing Accurate records of Program monitoring and Module Monitoring reports by working in close association with the Course office and faculty. And perform other related duties as required or directed by the Head Academic Quality.
This position description is intended to provide a broad outline of the main responsibilities of the post. The post holder is expected to be flexible in developing their role in agreement with their line manager. The position description will be subject to regular review in consultation with the post holder, in accordance with the changing needs of BUV and the requirements of the role.
