BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL GROWTH (PSG) PROGRAMME

The Personal and Social Growth (PSG) Programme is a unique initiative of British University Vietnam (BUV) to encourage students’ holistic development by equipping them with essential skills, qualities, and qualifications for future success.

Playing no less of an important role and running parallel to academic degree programmes, the PSG Programme offers a vast pool of extracurricular activities that foster student growth in four key areas: Work & Career Readiness; University & Community Engagement; Social, Cultural & Emotional Development; and Academic Excellence.

To recognize and validate students’ PSG journeys, BUV awards PSG points for their evident efforts and achievements in participating and contributing to various PSG activities. Upon completing the programme, students will be awarded a PSG certificate and a detailed transcript of activities and points accumulated during their time at BUV, providing a competitive edge for future opportunities.

POSITION PURPOSE

Overall, the Personal and Social Growth (PSG) Programme Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and managing the PSG Programme – a comprehensive framework of hundreds of extracurricular and skills enhancement activities, organised by various departments at BUV to holistically foster students’ non-academic competencies.

The PSG Manager must collaborate effectively with multiple departments and divisions that offer PSG activities, including Career Services & Industry Relations, Student Life, Student Wellbeing, Student Academic Support, the International Office, and others. This role is essential in aligning cross-departmental efforts to foster students’ interdisciplinary competencies by coordinating intensive student development projects, increasing PSG participation and completion rates, refining materials and mechanisms for the programme’s effective operation, guiding students in customising their development paths strategically, and achieving other ambitious goals.

Additionally, the PSG Manager leads the PSG division under the Student Engagement Department, overseeing the accurate recording of student participation in PSG activities and the portfolio of PSG points to sustain high levels of motivation and engagement. Furthermore, the team designs and implements student development and communication initiatives, enhancing BUV’s non-academic offerings and actively promoting the programme within the student community and enhance public awareness.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Programme design, development and implementation
  • Labour market and best practice research
    • Regularly research local and global labour market needs and trends for non-academic competencies; Study best student development practices from leading institutions.
    • Provide insights to the Head of Student Engagement to support the design of innovative, high-impact, and cost-effective student holistic development models and activities.
  • Programme development, evaluation and review
    • Frequently review, update PSG documents (e.g., Programme Handbook, Activity List, Point Scheme, Forms and Templates), and develop new documents to provide clear, comprehensive PSG information for students and enhance the management of student activity records, completion rates and achievements.
    • Conduct surveys and evaluations to gather feedback from students and other BUV departments on the PSG Programme.
    • Assess students’ needs and interests in student development, identify the programme’s strengths and areas for improvement plans to enhance its effectiveness.
    • Structure PSG activities into distinct categories and timeline to guide students strategic participation and purposeful development.
    • Develop non-academic development routes tailored to complement the academic programme at BUV, offering example routes for students to follow and customize for their own growth.
  • PSG – planning workshops and 1:1 consultation for students
    • Design and deliver workshops to help students create their PSG action plans, reflect on their personal and social growth, and other topics.
    • Provide students with personalized consultations on PSG action planning and PSG goal achievement strategies.
  • Manage skill courses and continued learning programmes
    • Design and deliver a semesterly portfolio of (basic and advanced) skills training courses with high quality to students
    • Coordinate to run Coursera campus programme, refine policies and PSG point scheme, pre-curate high-impact courses.
    • Ensure optimal registration and enrolment rate as well as learning engagement from students to meet set KPIs
  • Data management
    • Work with the PSG Admin to ensure all PSG data is updated frequently and inquiries are resolved promptly.
    • Monitor students’ PSG records to ensure they meet the PSG programme requirements or provide timely intervention and support.
  1. Cross-team coordination for departmental and university projects
  • Collaborate with other divisions and departments to design, implement, and support cross-departmental projects: PSG Weeks, Orientation Week, Benefit programme and Student awards for PSG high achievers…etc and ensure high-quality standards within the approved budget, achieving set KPIs for registration, participation, and student satisfaction.
  • Work with the Operational departments to ensure seamless event preparation and implementation.
  • Work with ICT and project team to enhance student mobile app that manage student PSG data records, event registration and participation.
  1. Communications and outreach
  • Work within the team to develop and execute impactful communication plans including content development, ensuring PSG Programme’s high visibility across diverse channels (social media, Emails and Newsletter, on-campus exhibition and events) to maximize student awareness and participation.
  • Recruit and manage student ambassadors to amplify communication efforts, ensuring alignment with students’ motivation and interests.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and other teams to enhance PSG’s strong public visibility beyond BUV through social media posts, video promotions, etc.
  • Represent BUV at student recruitment, parent, and stakeholder events to introduce and promote the PSG Programme to a wider audience.

Assist the Student Engagement Department and the university in other areas as needs arise.
