Designed to provide a strong academic foundation, the IFP prepares students for their journey toward bachelor’s degrees awarded by the University of London and taught at BUV. The IFP Awards Celebration recognized outstanding achievements of distinction and merit students, marking a significant milestone in their pursuit of academic excellence and receiving prestigious recognition from the University of London.
In December 2024, British University Vietnam (BUV) proudly hosted the IFP Awards Celebration, celebrating the exceptional achievements of its International Foundation Programme (IFP) students. The ceremony brought together key figures from both BUV and the University of London, creating an inspiring and memorable event. Representing BUV were Mr. Chris Jeffery, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. Michael Lomax, Head of Pre-University, and faculty members teaching University of London programmes. Joining from the University of London was Dr. James Abdey, Deputy Academic Director of International Programmes at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, proud parents were in attendance, sharing in the joy and pride of their children’s accomplishments.
Nineteen outstanding students were honoured for their remarkable accomplishments, including ranking in the global top 2 and earning the highest top score worldwide in Mathematics & Statistics. These achievements, recognised by the University of London – the awarding body of the programme – highlight the relentless efforts of BUV students. This event also reaffirmed BUV’s commitment to nurturing a community of talented learners, paving the way for new academic opportunities and propelling BUV students to thrive on an international stage.
The IFP of the University of London, UK, is one of the world’s most widely accepted foundation programmes. IFP equips students with the fundamental academic knowledge, skills and learning methods required to gain direct entry to undergraduate degrees and help students quickly adapt to international university environments all around the world. More than 120 educational institutions in the world are teaching the IFP to equip students with the necessary fundamental knowledge to gain entry to universities in the UK and other countries, namely the US, Australia, and Canada.
“On behalf of the University of London, I’d like to offer my heartiest congratulations for the tremendous successes of so many IFP students over recent years. BUV, I believe, is our top performing IFP teaching centre in terms of not just grades, but we’re seeing very healthy growth in student numbers as well. It’s great to have such tremendous support from the BUV teaching staff who have worked tirelessly over many years to get BUV to where it is today, and we look forward to many more successes in the years ahead”, shared Dr. James Abdey, Deputy Academic Director of International Programmes at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Sharing the pride in the ceremony, Mr. Michael Lomax, Head of Pre-University, School of Pathway, English & Lifelong Learning at BUV, praised the students’ remarkable accomplishments: “We’re delighted to welcome some of our outstanding IFP students and alumni today, who have achieved remarkable awards not only during their IFP journey but also in their University of London studies. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to connect with younger peers and inspire them to strive for excellence.”
The IFP Awards Celebration event underscored BUV’s dedication to shaping the future of its students, providing them with the tools and opportunities to succeed on international academic pathways. With the unwavering support of faculty and the inspiration of accomplished alumni, the programme continues to serve as a solid steppingstone for students aiming to achieve their dreams.
