The British University Vietnam’s External Advisory Board (EAB) is made up of regional, national, and international leaders in a range of fields and activities. The overall purpose of this committee will be to provide advice and direction on the University’s Education and Research agenda along with facilitating and developing the University’s engagement with the broader education, government, corporate and social communities.

Mr. Le Quoc Vinh

Chairman & CEO, Le Group of Companies

Mr. Le Quoc Vinh (1968) is currently Chairman of the Board and General Director of Le Group of Companies with 4 member companies including: Le Media, Le Bros, Le Digital and Creativa Company. These member companies are all leading companies in Vietnam in the fields of publishing, journalism, communication, marketing, public relations and event organization. He has many years of experience in the field of journalism and is a Marketing and Communication specialist. He participated in the founding and reform of many leading newspapers and magazines in Vietnam such as: Đẹp Magazine, Thể thao Văn hóa & Đàn ông, Doanh nhân… In 2013, he founded and became the chairman of Vietnam Creative Enterpreneur Club (VCE Club), with more than 12,500 members. This club is a platform to network entrepreneurs and managers, and promote the creation of creative industries in Vietnam.

Professor Belinda Tynan

Principal, Deloitte Monitor

Professor Tynan has worked across a diversity of academic environments spanning pre tertiary and higher education globally. She has extensive leadership experience in Higher Education and Vocational Education for 24+ years.  Currently engaged by Deloitte Monitor in Australia with a focus on Strategy and Transformation in tertiary education. Known for her inclusive and values lead style.  She is a highly skilled communicator and sought-after public speaker with deep expertise in digital and educational technology solutions. Winner of the Australian Financial Review Top 100 Women of Influence (Board and Management Category) in 2019 and in 2020 Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Victorian Winner (Academia and Professional Category).

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Van

Principal, Thang Long High School

Ms. Van has been serving the public education and teaching at Thang Long high school since 1995. Started as an English teacher, she developed course curriculum and learning techniques that not only helped Vietnamese students approach English naturally but also allowed them to attempt university entrance exam with high success rate. Apart from teaching, she also served as the Secretary of Youth Union in Thang Long high school, organising sport activities, fostering student life, and facilitating international educational collaboration. As the Principal of Thang Long high school for more than 10 years, she enjoys effective school management, the curriculum, and soft skill development side of education. Ms. Van’s work is rooted in a belief that a well-rounded education is the key to success in life. She’s been awarded many precious rewards for her contribution to education.

Ms. Vu Dieu Trang

Chief Executive Officer, Apollo English Vietnam

In a career that has spanned nearly 20 years, Trang has held managerial positions in retail, banking and education before being appointed as CEO of Apollo English. Under her leadership, Apollo English has doubled the number of centres within 5 years while successfully navigating and bouncing back from the pandemic. These contributed to Apollo English being recognized as the Best Managed Company by Deloitte in two consecutive years (2021 & 2022).

Trang completed a Bachelor of Arts in Finance & Accounting from Saxion University of Applied Sciences, and an MBA from University of Greenwich. She has significant experience across Sales and Marketing, with strong cultural competence leading global teams. She is also a team motivator and a strong champion for women’s leadership and diversity.

Ian was appointed CEO of the UK-ASEAN Business Council in September 2020. Prior to taking up this position, he had held a variety of roles across government including British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Deputy Consul General and Director of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in Dubai, Deputy Director of UKTI India, Senior Private Secretary to successive Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) Secretaries of State (Rt Hon Alistair Darling, Rt Hon Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt) and Director of Business Development with the MWW Group in New York working in public relations. Prior to this, he spent – 4.5 years – also in New York – as head of Invest UK’s Regional Inward Investment Team (the British Government’s agency responsible for attracting inward investment from the United States to the UK).

From Cambridge, England, John has over 30 years’ experience as an international educator and school leader, presenting extensively on leadership, accreditation, global citizenship and the arts in education. John’s background is in the arts and in teaching from the University of Liverpool and Goldsmiths College University of London. His career to date is characterised by the founding new international schools in Asia and more recently in education reform. John is currently Principal at Vinschool Secondary & High School, Hanoi, where he leads the flagship school of 4,000 students, and guided accreditation for all the Times City campuses awarded by the Council of International Schools in 2022. Prior to this, John was with ISS International Schools Services Princeton, where, as Headmaster, he led the renewal of a school on 2 campuses in Bangkok. He also held headships at Nazarbayev Intellectual School Astana, the President’s First School in Kazakhstan, at Wellington College China and St. Stephen’s International School Bangkok. He is passionate about building collaborative school leadership, promoting experiential and interdisciplinary learning, and is a keen advocate of student’s voices. He believes that kindness and a caring spirit are keynote to building successful school communities. He is a Fellow of the ILM Institute of Leadership and Management and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London.
