Welcome to British University Vietnam (BUV).
Having one of the most modern and technologically sophisticated campuses in the world, BUV is recognised as a symbolic gateway to the future of university education in Vietnam.
As the first and only international university to offer full British degrees in Vietnam, BUV brings the distinguished heritage of British education to the Vietnamese people. The University offers contemporary degree programs from leading British universities and employs the most recent pedagogical models and education technologies to facilitate discovery-based teaching and research.
BUV’s immediate future involves further capital investment into the expansion of its campus, its study programmes and its faculty. The objective of this expansion is to provide an opportunity for many more Vietnamese students to experience an authentic British education while living in Vietnam.

OUR HISTORY

OUR JOURNEY IN VIETNAM

Since 2009, BUV has created a distinct British university experience in Vietnam.

BUV was founded in 2009 as a result of cooperation between the governments of Vietnam and the United Kingdom. We were the first international university in Vietnam authorised to award degrees directly from UK institutions. The University now teaches around 3,000 students on a purpose-built campus in the Ecopark township, with capacity for 5,000 following the inauguration of Phase 2 in April 2026.

2008

The idea takes shape

BUV's founders begin the journey to establish a British university in Vietnam.

2009

BUV is established

British University Vietnam begins its mission to deliver university-level education locally.

2010

Welcome to the British University Vietnam (BUV)

MOET's approval for three programs: BSc (Hons) International Business Management and BA (Hons) Marketing Management by Staffordshire University and BSc (Hons) Banking and Finance awarded by University of London

2012

First scholarship programme launched

Launched The HRH Prince Andrew Scholarship: 04 full scholarships every year for University of Staffordshire programmes.

2013

First cohort of BUV Graduates

The first cohort of BUV students graduates, marking the beginning of our growing community of alumni.

2014

Joining the University of London network

Officially became a Registered Teaching Centre of University of London International Programmes (one of 70 Registered Centres worldwide and the only one in Vietnam).

2015

Expanding our academic offering

MOET's approval for BUV's own programme: Finance and Economics - Dual Award Opportunity with University of Staffordshire.

2018

Ecopark campus opens

A purpose-built campus creates a new home for teaching, collaboration and student life.

2022

A five-star milestone

Officially became the first university in Vietnam to be awarded an overall 5-star rating by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).

2023

Raising the bar for British education in Vietnam

Officially became the first university in Southeast Asia to receive university-wide accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

2024

A green campus

Achieved EDGE Advanced green building certification for the first phase of BUV’s Ecopark Campus.

4/2025

Growing our campus

Officially inaugurated Phase 2 of the Ecopark campus, expanding the capacity to 5,500 students.

Strengthening global connections

Designated an International Partner of the University of London, becoming one of only a select few institutions worldwide to receive this prestigious recognition.
