This event marks a significant step in BUV’s new development strategy, shifting the focus to accelerate its journey towards becoming the ‘Home of the Lionhearted’.
Future-focused programmes
British University Vietnam (BUV) stands out for its commitment to excellence and global relevance, primarily through its strategic academic partnerships and the offering of degrees accredited by prestigious UK universities.
Building on this foundation, BUV has officially introduced 7 new programmes at the undergraduate and master’s levels, commencing in 2025. This includes: 6 undergraduate programmes which are Data Science and Business Analytics, Management and Digital Innovation awarded by the University of London (UoL) with the academic direction by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); Film and Media Production, awarded by Arts University Bournemouth (AUB); Software Engineering, by the University of Stirling; Tourism Management and Event Management by Bournemouth University (BU); 1 master’s programme dually awarded by BUV and University of Staffordshire which is Master of Business, featuring 5 streams: International Management, Digital Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality, Creative Industries, and Financial Technology and Data Analytics.
With the new programmes, BUV has officially introduced Bournemouth University (UK) as a new awarding body. Bournemouth University is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world and 3rd in the UK in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2024. The university is also ranked 39th out of a total of 1,963 institutions in the THE Impact Rankings 2024, which evaluates universities worldwide based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
“Home of the Lionhearted”
The new programmes will build upon and enhance BUV’s established academic strengths, including world-class facilities with a QS 5-star rating, curriculum and teaching quality comprehensively accredited by the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and a teaching approach centred on real-world impact, empowering students to make meaningful contributions to society. Additionally, 100% of BUV’s faculty meet international accreditation standards and bring extensive practical experience, ensuring that students receive a world-class education grounded in real-world insights.
At BUV, students have the opportunity to develop and broaden their international experience through exchange programmes and transfers to nearly 50 universities across five continents within BUV’s partner network. Furthermore, BUV supports students in pursuing higher education within BUV’s partner network and globally.
Beyond academics, students will be supported in conducting in-depth research and benefit from BUV’s exclusive Personal and Social Growth (PSG) programme, designed to equip them with the soft skills necessary to succeed in the global job market. Career-oriented students will receive support from BUV’s robust network of over 400 partner businesses and leading employers.
Aiming to become the leading international university in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, BUV is committed to delivering accredited British education and practical learning experiences that not only unlock students’ potential but also instil in them the lionhearted character and resilience of the Royal Lion, the legendary symbol of the UK.
At the event, Professor Raymond Gordon, Vice-Chancellor and President of British University Vietnam (BUV), emphasised: “The continuous enhancement of high-quality academic programmes is a strategic priority for BUV, aligned with our guiding motto, ‘Here for the future of Vietnam,’ to drive progress in the national education landscape. Our commitment to academic excellence extends beyond delivering internationally recognised qualifications – it fosters lifelong learning and personal growth. We strongly believe that every BUV student will not only be academically prepared but also embody the lionhearted spirit, resilience and skills to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our BUV alumni are a testament to the legacy of British education.“
Scholarship fund of greater value, wider opportunities
As part of the event, BUV has officially announced the 2025 BUV Scholarship Fund, valued at 150 billion VND (6.25 million USD), an increase of nearly 75% compared to 2024, showing expansion to offer more opportunities to outstanding young individuals nationwide, regardless of their geographic or social background.
The scholarship fund includes various appealing scholarships with support up to 100% of tuition fees, such as the The Founders’ Scholarship, Lion’s Heart Scholarship, The British Ambassador’s Scholarship, Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship, Discipline Scholarships, and Talent Scholarships.
Notably, The Lion’s Heart 100% valued Scholarship is dedicated to students who face physical or health challenges, or those from disadvantaged family backgrounds, who demonstrate exceptional resilience, courage, and a remarkable ‘lionhearted spirit’ to overcome personal barriers, achieve outstanding accomplishments, and inspire those around them with their positive influence. In addition, the British Ambassador’s Scholarship, also valued at 100%, is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements, a strong track record of community service, and the potential to become exceptional future leaders.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Marcus Winsley, British Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam, shared: “BUV serves as a crucial bridge, fostering strong cooperation between Vietnam and the UK in education, one of the three key areas of partnership between two nations. The quality of education at BUV stands as a testament to the excellence of UK higher education, as evidenced by QAA accreditation. The launch of new academic programmes and the largest scholarship fund to date by BUV provides even greater access to the UK’s advanced and long-standing educational heritage for Vietnamese students, regardless of their social background. Through this, students not only gain access to the academic and educational advantages of both countries but also develop into individuals who contribute to society, furthering the shared growth of both nations and the world.”
With the latest developments unveiled at this event, BUV reinforces the core values it has upheld since its inception: to contribute to the development of Vietnam. By focusing on becoming the ‘Home of the Lionhearted’ and upholding the renowned British educational philosophy, BUV aims to nurture a generation of students with ‘resilient hearts, brilliant minds’. These students will lead with resilience and a spirit of continual innovation, driving forward globalisation and advancing Vietnam’s education system.
