This collaboration builds a strong connection with a highly reputable Irish university and offers BUV students a seamless transfer pathway to continue their studies in Ireland, equipping them with global insights and practical skills to thrive in the competitive hospitality industry.
In early December 2024, British University Vietnam (BUV) and the University of Galway (Ireland) came together to mark a significant milestone in international education by signing an articulation agreement, opening new doors for students passionate about hotel management. This partnership specifically connects BUV with Shannon College of Hotel Management, a prestigious institution within the University of Galway renowned for its industry-focused hospitality programmes.
The ceremony welcomed distinguished representatives from both institutions, highlighting the significance of this collaboration. From BUV, attendees included Mr. Chris Jeffery, Pro-Vice Chancellor (International, Strategy & Engagement) and Assoc. Professor Jason MacVaugh, Dean (Higher Education). Representing the University of Galway were Professor Geraint Howells, Executive Dean of the College of Business, Public Policy and Law; Dr. Murray Scott, Vice Dean of Internationalisation for the same college and Mr. Padraic De Búrca, Director of Strategic Development.
This partnership with University of Galway enables BUV students enrolled in the Bachelor’s in International Hospitality Management programme to seamlessly transfer to the Shannon College of Hotel Management after successfully completing the first two years at BUV. Eligible students will join Year Three of the Bachelor of Business Studies in International Hotel Management at Shannon College, located in Shannon, County Clare, Ireland.
The programme offers an immersive learning experience, combining academic excellence with practical exposure. After successful completion of year three and year four, students will complete a nine-month trainee work placement, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to excel in the global hospitality industry. Graduates will be awarded a Bachelor of Business Studies in International Hotel Management (Honours) from the University of Galway.
The University of Galway, ranked among the top 2% of universities globally, is celebrated for its academic excellence and leadership in sustainability, holding the top spot in Ireland for sustainable development. Its Shannon College of Hotel Management, established in 1951, is Ireland’s only dedicated hotel management college, renowned for producing highly skilled, industry-ready graduates.
This articulation agreement between BUV and the Shannon College of Hotel Management highlights BUV’s commitment to providing internationally accredited education that prepares graduates for the demands of a globalized workforce, offering prestigious opportunities to gain international exposure and industry-ready skills in one of Europe’s leading hospitality programmes. For the University of Galway, the agreement strengthens its ties with Southeast Asia, welcoming talented students from Vietnam who bring diverse perspectives and a commitment to excellence.
