Cultural theory content: Defining culture; Evolution of cultural theory; National & corporate culture; Measuring cultural ‘gaps’; Characterising the complexity of culture and the difficulty in defining it; Characterising the evolution of cultural theory and drawing a distinction between both national & corporate culture
2. Influence of culture on communication content: Factors affected by cultural gaps; Communicating across cultural boundaries; Resulting patterns of international business; Characterising the challenge of communicating across cultural boundaries; Identifying the business risks associated with cultural gaps.
3. The module examines the tourism and event organisation as a transformation system and the principles underpinning effective resource allocation, which includes the introduction of fundamental theories of organisational behaviour, basic principles and techniques of Human Resource Management, fundamental principles and practices of Financial Management, as well as how financial management and human resource management are integrated to ensure effective operations of organisations.
The purpose of this module is to provide you with an understanding of recent and contemporary developments in new media marketing technology, specifically the social media, mobile marketing, mobile apps, augmented reality and the way in which these have transformed the tourism and events sector. The module will enable you to assess the effects and the impacts of new media marketing technology on tourism organisations, destinations and distribution channels as well as strategic tourism marketing. This module will explore how technological potentials are integrated within touristic and events marketing practices. You will be encouraged to undertake research on contemporary new media marketing practices to help stimulate further investigation in specific tourism and events sector.

This module aims to take a strategic view of Supply Chain Management and how effective it can be in supporting and driving organisational objectives and in achieving competitive advantage. It is based on the concept of a Supply Chain being the flow of information, goods, services and finance in both upstream and downstream directions, taking into account both supplier and customer relationships.

Academic Requirements

Aged 17 or over. One of the following qualifications:

  • Vietnamese High School Diploma and Pathway to Staffordshire University Programme
  • Pass 2 subjects at Advanced GCE (A-Level)
  • An access programme passed at the required QAA-recognised standard for entry to Higher Education
  • An award of the European Baccalaureate Diploma, with at least 60 percent overall; English at 60 percent
  • An award of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points; English at 4 points

English Language Requirements

One of the following:

  • A proficiency test within the last 2 years:
    • IELTS (non UKVI): 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component; or
    • TOEFL IBT: Listening: 17; Speaking: 20; Reading: 18; Writing: 17
  • A proficiency test within the last 5 years:
    • International Baccalaureate (taught in English) Pass in English B at Standard Level grade 5 or High Level grade 4; or
    • IGCSE English: IGCSE English as a first or second language: Grade C; or
    • Cambridge International English GCE O-Level/GCSE: English Language grade A – C

If you have not met one of the above requirements you need to complete IELTS Upper-Intermediate Course at BUV or equivalent.

You don’t need to provide evidence of English language proficiency if any of the following conditions apply: If you’re a UK national; If you’ve completed a full degree from a UK university.
